Here's 6 areas to work on when you want to make it in business:
BRANDING: find your niche and make a connection to them. Ensure your brand matches the story you want to tell .. in tone, language, colour, logos, and marketing.
SYSTEMS: make sure you have the right systems in place to ensure you maximise efficiencies, increase productivity and minimize costs.
MARKETING: no one will go searching for you - you need to get your business in front of them. Use at least 8 touch points to find and communicate to your target market. The best marketing is word of mouth referrals - how can you get people to talk about your business?
PEOPLE: When you are a small biz owner you need to make sure you have the right people on your team. Be very selective esp when you only have the resources for 1 or 2 staff at the beginning. Whether you recruit, outsource or hire contractors make sure they believe in you, your brand, your product or service. Hire someone who's strengths are your weaknesses.
FINANCES: Think cashflow, customers and capital. Managing cashflow will make or break your biz. NEVER let this side of your biz slip under the radar. Take the time to learn how to manage ur money and if it becomes overwhelming outsource it asap. Collecting money is the key to cashflow .... so get onto any outstanding money owed to you. No matter what it is - your time, money and resources .. ask yourself what is ur ROI?
GET OUT OF THE BIZ: It is ok to work in the biz... most small biz owners have to do this to reduce costs .. however allocate at least one to two hours per week to work on ur biz .. be accountable .... unaccountability leads to headache and heartache.
